Aoyagi Ritsuka wasn't exactly your normal twelve-year old. Losing the love of his mother and his memories after his elder brother died, he was in a sense, a very fragile young boy. That is, until he encountered the man named Agatsuma Soubi. Because this man claimed to have known his brother, Ritsuka decided to hear him out. Apparently Soubi was truly connected to Ritsuka's belated brother Seimei. He was a Fighter, and Seimei was his Sacrifice.

Hearing more about his brother from Soubi, Ritsuka learned that he had been killed by an organization called the 'Seventh Moon'. Wanting to know the truth behind his brother's past and his death, the young elementary school student teamed up with the Fighter, becoming his new Sacrifice. His given name in battle was "Loveless."  He learns that Seimei had been called "Beloved." Side by side, Soubi and Ritsuka fought together on their journey to finding the true murderers of Aoyagi Seimei.
