Shoutbox Rules [Updated: March 13 2008]

Rules and Guidelines for
Shoutbox

1. Shoutbox users are not allowed to display rudeness, racial slurs, flame wars, trying to initiate a fight, cybering...
2. Shoutbox users should use a language that is free of cursing, even when they replace letters with *** or other symbols.
3. Shoutbox users should not display inappropriate pictures or links that are offensive or sexually explicit in content.
4. 'Hugs' and 'kisses' or other similar simple/harmless actions are fine but no cybering or taking it to the point of making shoutbox users feel uncomfortable.
5. Please do not use large "anime" smilies such as since it takes too much space in the shoutbox.
6. Shoutbox users who do not follow these simple rules will be warned or banned from the shoutbox.
7. Shoutbox users can report to forum mods/admins if someone did not follow the rules. We will review the chat history and take action accordingly. When reporting, please provide screenshots.

Furthermore: The Main Forum Rules also apply to the shoutbox of course.

3. Do NOT be rude to other forumers and no flame wars please !
   • If it is serious, involved members will be banned immediately!
4. Do NOT be rude to Admins and Mods!
   • We are not getting paid for doing this and please be grateful. Therefore, respect every staff member.
   • If you have any problems [unfairness or complaints] with a staff member, do NOT take it upon yourself to resolve it by openly telling everyone.
   • Private Message (PM) an Admin [aarinfantasy or Dai-kun] for help.

7. Do NOT post real life nude pictures or pornographic materials.
   • This includes, but is not limited to, pictures, avatars, signatures, and links.
   • Genitalia/breasts are forbidden.
   • Members will be banned immediately !

9. Do NOT post the followings:
   • Sensitive issues such as anti-gay, military, religion and political issues etc... it usually invite flame wars. .
   • Pointless quizzes that's not yaoi/shounen-ai related. We won't be too strict on this so there are some we will give an exception if it is very interesting.
   • Straight hentai materials in anywhere of the forum, including sending/sharing of it is not allowed.

Punishments

Breaking the rules might award you a yellow or red card, depending on your history and the gravity of the situation.

Cards are not to be confused with other forum warnings, they only refer to the ShoutBox.

If you receive a yellow card, any other rule breaking in the following X days (starting at 15 for the first yellow card received, doubling each subsequent times) will result in a red card (permanent ban.)

Well I remembered at one time someone wrote let's say "MrA rapes MrB"
MrA only meant for it to be a joke and a single liner but MrB took it seriously and reported it to the mods saying he's uncomfortable with it. So in cases like this, MrA will get warning.
However, I suppose it is okay if MrB accepted the one liner and take it as a joke... then that's no problem. As long as it is harmless to others too...

Of course we aren't saying rape is okay But just an expression on the Shoutbox I suppose it's okay. Just bear in mind the above I mentioned.

What happened to the good ol' days of shoutboxes where you yell stuff like

"Nooooooo I can't believe X ended with up Y instead of Z!!! It should be X, Y and Z?!"

I mean who cybers on a shoutbox anyway? Cyber voyeurism anyone? :P
Or is it getting that hard to get laid in RL these days? Ah I am being snarky :P

You know what, Ishtar? I have no idea. XD It seems to be mostly new forumers and yup, it seems to be getting harder to get laid in RL these days. XD It´s mostly the same people and as far as I can tell the new rules have only slightly helped so far. When it comes to cursing, instead of writing "bi*ch", they simply write it "biatch" and as for cybering, it has gotten tamer but it isn´t gone. I used to like the shoutbox for meeting people that you usually only know the name of, when reading their posts and such, but now I couldn´t care less because it really has turned into this adolescent dark room substitution, mostly for boys . I don´t know, maybe I´m just getting old ...

I agree. I used to read the shout box to see if there were anyone I wanted to say "hi" to but I stopped when I realized it's mostly unknown newbies flirting and occasionally having cyber sex :-& Too bad; it could be a cool place to talk about anime, etc. Oh well

Yeah I know what you mean, I watched and wanted to jump in and say hi too but all this other stuff put me right off so I didn't bother in the end. There are so many nice people who are there and then you get the few who just make you want to cringe. But...that's life!
