New Fictions Section

Since I think it would be best if we have some sort of categorization for the fiction section, I'll be working on this new fiction addon. It will have a lot features that will work better than the current forum functions. The fictions section has grown considerably large, so it deserves its own place.

Some highlights:

  • Allow you to save your entries as "drafts", which will not be visible to the public until you publish them at a later time

Bug Fixes:

• Favorites pagination problem with going to the main site, leaving out the /forum/fiction in the url. I went ahead and disabled the url rewrite as it was causing some problems getting the right url out.
• Added a "Last reply" display option for those who wanted to use it. It was originally the default viewing options (but does not appear in the display choices) when viewing categories. Also, originally it does not apply when viewing favorites, which has been fixed according to your viewing preference that you've chosen.
• Linking to individual posts have been fixed. The post ID is now changed to NOT include the url title which, from your replies, may be the problem that's causing the url to break. You can use this to link individual updates to your chapters now. (please confirm this as I've not a thread to test it on)
• You may have to update your url to the new url. I find the old url's should work most of the time but a title change or something may break it so test it out and if it works then leave it if you want.
• When submitting an entry, you don't know under what category it should be under since the Fiction 18+, 17-, etc does not show up--should appear now.

• Problem regarding the first page title of an entry, when edited, if not changed back, will show Page 1--has been fixed to show what the original title is without having to retype it in.
• Adding multi-pages between pages is now possible without getting database errors.
• Multi-page error fixed!

I know this is just a test, will views be able to navigate to other pages? (if they are non-members?)

I like the look, its very 'bright" and seems user friendly. Although a page that allows the user to just skip to next post would be great. For example if I did not have an index, how would a person get to the next post?

I just added the permission to disable guest viewing that section.
I dunno what you mean by skip to the next post?
There's a "find all fiction by (username)" if someone clicks on your username.
It's possible to have number of views, but that's not logical for it here because it belongs in a forum which totals up the number of the entire forum, not just for that fiction. The new fiction, random fiction section of the home page features that because it's for individual fictions.

Not sure to understand then... (I'm a bit slow this morning :S)
Is it:
A-
(1) all the fiction (only fanfic or original also) will be in this section... and then with their respective replies
(2) on the forum, only the Writers lounge and other sub-forums will remains...

Or:
B-
(1) fiction (fanfic and/or original) will be on the "fiction" section for the ones who want to put them there
(2) the forum remains as is...
(this doesn't sound logical... so I guess the first (A) is more likely to happen)

We'll prob move everything over to the new section.. I'll have to look at the settings again.

Damn why the links on the navigation so ugly for the blue theme.. the others work fine..

So far (I didn't try all the functionality links and all...), I can see the "multiquote" is missing in the response parts.. and I know authors using it a lot... even readers...

I added the "Genre" field to the selection when posting a new fiction. What other "fields" do you think should be added?

Fandom?.. that's all I can think of.

Maybe "Rating" (17- or 18+) and "Derivation" (Original or Fan-Fiction)?
