For an old anime, the quality is not too bad and the characters are portrayed in a realistic way. Their age shows through their drifting manners and struggles, the setting reflects the morals and restrictions of the times. Overall I found it beautiful and poetic.

If there was one BL anime to watch, I'd recommend this one. Even a non-BL-initiated audience might find satisfaction in it.

This was so sad but...so beautiful. Being what a Victorian junky I am, I really liked this. The animations was....done in the 80's but once you turn the lights off it gets a bit easier to see ^_^'

I know that no one else who reads this will probably be a Wildean like I am but, if you know anything about hoe homosexuality was regarded in time period, this will make you cry, or almost. It DOES take intelligence to keep up with, this is certainly not light, and although Gilbert IS freakishly pretty, it's not cutsie in the least.

Oh, and is anyone IS a Wilde freak like I am, I SWEAR Gilbert is Boisie, if he were a little french boy

It was beautiful, I love it.

Set in the time of the 19th century, Kaze to Ki no Uta trails Serge Battour upon his return to Laconblade Academy set in Provene, France. The story shifts to Serge's recollected memories of his roommate, Gilbert Cocteau. Gilbert, Serge realizes, is known by the faculty and students to be stripped of any morality as the gorgeous Gilbert often ditches classes to engage in lewd behavior with older students.

Upon their first meeting, Serge and Gilbert clash due to Gilbert's pompous attitude. However, Gilbert is revealed as a tragic character who is sexually abused by his own uncle, Auguste Beau, who has an enormous influence on Gilbert. Convinced that he and his uncle are in love, Gilbert is in a constant struggle with his demons and the kind hearted Serge offers friendship despite understanding Gilbert's problems.

Though at first he rudely rejects Serge's offer, a relationship blooms between the two boys that ultimately suggests something beyond friendship. Gilbert's tragedies manifest in his engagement with Serge and as the ending suggests, the audience is not guaranteed any happy endings. Rather, it is heart-breaking.

The OVA is beautifully done with older albeit wonderful art and invigorating plot that engages the important themes of prostitution, abuse, and homosexuality. There is nothing graphic but you don't need to see the details to sympathize and feel the agony of the story.

A top choice for anybody, regardless of their interest in boy/boy fandoms.

A beautiful anime that portrays a boy (Gilbert) being the all boys-schools whore and (Serge) being the roommate of Gilbert. Serge tries desperately to change Gilbert's prostituting ways and in the end they sleep together. The fact that this anime is old and wrinkly really surprises me how beautiful the shounen-ai love between the two is really complex and cool. wish they had more details on Gilbert though, since it is inferred that the uncle made him promiscuous.

Disjointed, incoherent mess. Info on the film says it was the first yaoi anime. If so, I am glad that it has evolved. If this had been the first yaoi I had seen I would have been put off.

I found this to be a rather enjoyable movie, even though backround information from the manga was somewhat needed (though the version on YouTube does a good job on filling you in on what you need to know).

The animation is kind of Old School, but still very appealing, and in my opinun beautiful. You can't say it's a clean quality, but :P It's from a VHS released in the 80s.

It's got a defininte unique quality, and a story that feels somewhat unlike anyother. The characters may fit into sterio-typical personalities, but not really those of Boy Love.

Serge's personality is innocent and kind, with a strong sense of justice, while Gilbert is beautiful by looks but has a demented, twisted sort of personality. The story is quite dramatic and also poetic, and with it's setting and time frame, it's just makes it incredibley interesting (too me anyways).

^^ It kind of does stir in you the desire to continue the story by reading the manga series, which i'd say are most difficult to find considering how old it is.

I really can't tell you much to why i like it, i just find in entirely fasinating. DX And just hope it comes to DVD someday *sigh*

But i really do recomend this, for any fan girl or boy, it's really just quite exciting and appealing!

For me, this was the saddest series ever. The ending was tragic, so for you saps (like me) who can't bear for an unhappy ending, you might want to skip this one. Even though it's old and the eyes are kinda...er, sparkly, the plot is good. The OVA might leave you with a few questions, so you should try the manga first.

The plot of this anime is not so confusing..the art is just okay...there is sexs, but they don't show part you would want to see*cough*...Gilbert(uke) is a very stubborn, shameless and a bad boy..Gilbert is the total opposite of Serge(can't be considered a seme sadly)...Serge is a piano playing pro and is a goody two shoes..the whole anime is just about the troubled life of Gilbert and how Serge tries to help him...I would suggest you see this anime,if you feel like wasting time(no,it's not that bad) .

If you want the original yaoi this is it. It's hard to get a good quality cpoy because of the age but if yo can watch it you should. Kaze to Ki no Uta was written based on the idea that the viewers had read the manga and knew much of the background story. For those who haven't this is a summary to help understand.

The whole story is Serge's memories of his time at the school he attended as a kid. You see the headmaster announcing Jack dean's expulsion from the school. This is because Dean and Max Blough have engaged in a duel over Gilbert and Blough won. You first see Gilbert after Blough, who is angry because of Gilbert's attitude, stuffs poisonous leaves down Gilbert's throat. Gilbert was raised by his uncle Auguste Beau after his parents abandoned him as a small child. Gilbert believes that he is in love with his uncle. Many of Gilbert's actions are because of Beau's psycholic sadism. But, because of his uncles money everyone at the school turns a blind eye to Gilbert's behaviors.

Well, there you ahve the basic run down of the show. An excellent show espically for it's age. A definent must see for the true yaoi fan.

Kaze to Ki no Uta was a beautiful anime. Too short for my liking, but it was still nicely done.

I isn't like your yaoi now a-days (well, most of it), where theres no plot and it's all smut, no this one has a very touching story.

the animation is...well it looks like it was made in the year...it was made ^^; but its not crappy or anything.

I think it's a must see because it was probably one of the first yaoi's ever created, which means the story isn't an over-used one.
