Worth watching

Fujimi Orchestra is one of the first yaoi anime that I had ever seen and I thought it was very well done. First of all, I'll admit that I haven't read the manga so for those who have don't hold this review against me. ^_^

I gave this anime a high rating because it was well crafted and had great plot development. Each character served his or her role well. There weren't any lulls in the storyline and definitely none of the WTF moments where you had to wonder what's going on or why certain actions were happening. There was a couple of twists as well as symbolism and excellent use of the orchestra's practice/music in reflecting Yuuki and Kei's tumultuous relationship. There were a few funny moments too. The sex scene was not at all graphic, but seeing Kei use his hands on Yuuki made me melt. The animation is not too bad either, but the quality may be lacking because it's older.

There are those who are tempted or even trained to watch manga based anime and desire it to be completely faithful to the storyline; however, this is one case where putting aside that training would be beneficial. In order to fully enjoy this OVA, it's important to look past the fact that it doesn't solely adhere to the manga and focus on this anime as its own product because it really is a treasure.

Old, but decent

This anime was just okay. The plot was understandable and very simple, but don't think that you will finish it without some unanswered questions. I won't say which parts are suspect so you can watch it and make that determination. The artwork isn't so bad for its time. It's actually pretty nice and there is a disclaimer at the beginning explaining why the quality is the way it is. The characters have depth and surprisingly, I found myself sympathizing with Yuuji despite having many questions about him. Moreover, there isn't much time to explore the different characters so many questions left unanswered. Like others have said previously, the sex scenes aren't detailed at all; basically you're left to use your imagination.

This anime wasn't horrendous, but it really needed another episode in order to offer a semblance of closure or just to do the manga justice. It's worth watching for those who don't want anything heavy or for those who are fans of older yaoi anime.

An amazing anime

This is one of the best series that I have ever watched. There's something that may be considered a **Spoiler** in here so I thought I'd give some warning.

Junjou Romantica season 1 was awesome, but it got much better this season. Every Romantica episode left me wondering what was going to happen next. I always wondered "Will Usagi and Misaki make it?" At every turn, poor Misaki was constantly getting caught in tough situations, yet it was great to see his relationship with Usagi strengthen through adversities. The same applies to the Egoist couple. This season continues to reveal the insecurities in both relationships and develop it throughout the series.

All of the characters are life like, in terms of personality, and invoke feelings in their audience. Since all of the characters go through trying situations or are struggling with issues within themselves, it's easy to relate to them and become sympathetic. Each character is unique and complicated so you won't find copies of personality traits or habits amongst characters. Furthermore, there aren't many predictable moments because the characters are so well-constructed.

The overall plot is solid. This anime basically takes the "two people from two different worlds" and revamps it. Like I've said before, hardly any predictable moments.

The art and voice acting (VA) is impeccable. There are no words that can describe how awesome the VA was. However, these comments are limited to the Japanese version since I haven't heard the VA in English.

Although I think this anime is worthy of more praise than I can give it, I was disappointed with the lack of episodes regarding the Terrorist couple. **Spoiler** Basically, the development of this couple was crammed into one episode. I have yet to read the manga for this couple so I'm not sure if it's due to the lack of development in the manga, but I felt cheated because the Miyagi x Shinobu relationship is quite taboo and can be, if written well, quite complicated. There were a few cameos of them throughout the series, but their storyline was cut significantly short. For that reason, I gave this anime 4 stars instead of 5.

Hard to say

This anime isn't horrifically bad, but it's not awesome either. The story like many others have said is simple. There's jealousy, insecurity, uncertainty and all of the other emotions that go into a love story; however, the story's length and overly simplistic storyline make it difficult to enjoy for those seeking an anime with a deep, heart-wrenching love story. The scenes aren't graphic and the art is not very good. I'm assuming this anime didn't get a big or even decent budget because the animation itself is lacking considerably; it's almost irritating to watch. The characters are very shallow in relation to the storyline, but then again, this is an OVA and the episodes are short. The music is very 90s, but I like it for its smooth, romantic vibe.

I wouldn't recommend this anime for those who dislike anything before 2000 or for anyone looking for a well crafted anime because this would end up being a great disappointment. However, if you're interested in something to kill time or want something to take you back to the 90s (in terms of movie music), then I would say, "give it a try."

Pretty Good

This anime is pretty good. It's action packed so there aren't any slow moments and remains well-paced. The first episode captivates the audience as you see Akira being transformed into a cool superhero along side Shirogane, who is constantly seeking affection from Akira. The relationship between Akira and Shirogane is the basis of the shounen-ai in this series. There's the occasional grabbing and hints, but there's nothing that is overtly sexual so if you're looking for fanservice, there isn't much. This series is very comedic and entertaining.

However, the character development is a bit rushed. I'm not sure if it's because the series is short or if it was just converted from the manga poorly. Towards the end, new characters are introduced quite abruptly with little to no information about their existence. It seemed rushed and somewhat unsatisfying.

Overall, the series was pretty good and quite funny, but don't expect too much.

It's just older

This anime is definitely older than some of the ones available on the forum and it has the classic "gokai" (misunderstanding) scenario. The protagonist is a little weak and somewhat whiny, but not insufferable; he's a high school student looking for love and searching for it in the wrong place. His friends are quite funny and make him less whiny, but they also highlight his weakness in certain situations. Personally, Masayoshi is my favorite character because he's such a bully and downright ridiculous at times. However, he's the butt of everyone's jokes and simply takes it while still remaining strong in himself. What makes this anime sweet is this strong teacher being broken down by this student and revealing a gentle side that he seldom admits or reveals.

Although it's short, it's satisfyingly sweet. There aren't any holes to the storyline and there are no dull moments. The pacing is perfect. All of the characters are likable with their varying personalities. Since the anime is older, the quality in terms of animation or clarity might be lacking. Remember: it's just an OVA so there's not going to be too much depth. It's lighthearted and comedic with some shounen-ai. It's a great anime for those looking for something that is not heavy in terms of a plot, for those who don't want to watch something graphic, for those who like older anime. This anime is a rare gem that shouldn't be overlooked too quickly.

Saint Beast

If you watch the prequels to it: Saint Beast: Kouin Jojishi Tenshi Tan and the OVA, you'll understand this series so I definitely suggest watching it before considering these episodes. If you've watched the prequels and you think this will give you more answers, you'll be sadly disappointed. In the prequels, there were more BL hints and whatnot; moreover, their stories were better and made you want to keep watching until the end. However, the plot develops poorly as I kept asking myself, "what's going on?" and "where is Lucifer and Gabriel?" I honestly believe those two should have been in the story since they made appearances in Kouin Jojishi and were dying to get Judas/Yuda. Anyway, more and more questions arise with no answers. New female characters enter with little reason and added no real substance to the story where the prequels had no females. The animation is a bit lacking. My biggest issue was with Kira. He's so serious and candid in the prior sets of series, but in this he's a completely different character without explaining the whole change. Also, the ending is horrible because there's no sense of closure at all. It would have been fine if there was some closure and questions answered in regards to the characters while having an overall unanswered question or a deep thought for the audience... but, no, it was nothing like that at all.

I wasn't expecting Antique Bakery to be so good as it was simple, but in this case simple worked best. The story is quite grabbing from the get-go. Each character had their own painful story, which worked well with the overall plot and development of the story. I truly appreciated the comedic moments that made you forget the sad times amongst the members. Also, there were a couple of twists that I really hadn't expected when watching it. Moreover, the theme song is a catchy and likable like the characters. I recommend it for its sweetness and sincerity. It's a refreshing anime and very well put together.

Gakuen Heaven is definitely a great shounen ai. Like many have mentioned, this is a light and funny anime so if you're looking for something hot and heavy, this really isn't it. GH had good characters so it's very easy to find one, latch onto him and like him. I particularly like Nakajima. Everyone is so different and unique, yet they go so well together. An aspect that I really appreciated is the character development and background info. They tell you just enough about each character so that you're not sitting there going, "so why is he in it?" or better yet, "who is this guy?"

My only gripe about the show was it's ending... I was hoping for a lil bit more at the end, but that's just me. I had the "tell me more" feeling when it was over.

However, this anime is very well done. I like the episodes and the situations that the characters are put in... I don't want to tell you what it is... you're going to have to find out. For me, whether or not I can watch an anime over and over determines its likability and this show I have definitely watched a few times over. Thus, I highly recommend watching this anime.
