Sukisho was a unique piece of boy's love. There's a typical dorming school setting yet there are deeper psychological undertones to the series.

The story mainly follows Sora and Sunaou, who suddenly appears to his friend years after being abandoned in an escape. The focus is on Sora's relationship with Sunaou and the mysteries as to the boy's return. There is a subtle (or obvious, depending on how you view it) attraction from the boys that accumulates into some fangirl moments.

It's a fun piece to watch with a healthy mix of humor (often stemming from their mutual friend, Matsuri) and drama.

There is no doubt that Loveless has a gorgeous appeal to it. The art is soft and every character, down to the cameos, are well done. Not once did I see a lazy or sloppy drawing that is typical in much anime at some point or another.

The characters themselves are quite love-able. We have the main protagonist, Ritsuka, who is delving into some conflicted situations regarding his life but cute nonetheless. Then there is his eventual canon counterpart, Soubi, who is introduced in the first episode as a friend of Ritsuka's now deceased brother.

The rest of the show dabbles in the unraveling of Ritsuka's new relationship with Soubi and the mysteries of his deceased brother.

The show is decent enough in that a first timer can sit through it and grasp most of the concepts. However, for those who have not read the manga, there is still something left to be desired, especially with the ending of the last episode.

Overall, it's a lovely piece of work to watch. Nothing graphic is shown but there are certainly doses of Soubi/Ritsuka touching/puns/etc that will cause any fangirl to swoon.

Set in the time of the 19th century, Kaze to Ki no Uta trails Serge Battour upon his return to Laconblade Academy set in Provene, France. The story shifts to Serge's recollected memories of his roommate, Gilbert Cocteau. Gilbert, Serge realizes, is known by the faculty and students to be stripped of any morality as the gorgeous Gilbert often ditches classes to engage in lewd behavior with older students.

Upon their first meeting, Serge and Gilbert clash due to Gilbert's pompous attitude. However, Gilbert is revealed as a tragic character who is sexually abused by his own uncle, Auguste Beau, who has an enormous influence on Gilbert. Convinced that he and his uncle are in love, Gilbert is in a constant struggle with his demons and the kind hearted Serge offers friendship despite understanding Gilbert's problems.

Though at first he rudely rejects Serge's offer, a relationship blooms between the two boys that ultimately suggests something beyond friendship. Gilbert's tragedies manifest in his engagement with Serge and as the ending suggests, the audience is not guaranteed any happy endings. Rather, it is heart-breaking.

The OVA is beautifully done with older albeit wonderful art and invigorating plot that engages the important themes of prostitution, abuse, and homosexuality. There is nothing graphic but you don't need to see the details to sympathize and feel the agony of the story.

A top choice for anybody, regardless of their interest in boy/boy fandoms.
