Intriguing and passionate
One thing I noticed while reading this manga: Klaus and Taki's relationship is filled with what appears to be misunderstandings, leading to the former's frustrations and haughty attitude behind closed doors.
Nevertheless, if you omit the originality of the setting, this is what makes the manga so intriguing and meaningful: how the characters' different cultures and upbringing get in the way of their relationship.

Beautifully drawn and funny
As expected from Taishi Zaou, the point of this manga is to make you laugh and enjoy the beautiful artwork.
The seme/uke behaviours here are interchanged, with a demanding uke almost forcing himself on his confused seme when he doesn't beat him up (poor guy). ^^'
Do read it if you're not looking for something too serious.

A more mature setting
Far from the cliches we find in most yaoi titles, this unique, subtle work shows a more realistic side to the characters' interactions.
Here you won't find the habitual pattern and plot line. Instead, the melancholy and uncertainties reminded me of " Blue" by Nananan Kiriko, which is a yuri manga.
I recommend reading it, if not for its unforgettable stories, to get a feel of what the genre has to offer.

A bit far-fetched but still cute
As the story progresses so does the main character's feelings towards his childhood friend. There are a few elements adding to its originality, though this manga may appeal to younger adults - or those who are new to BL - with its cute design and supernatural, comical situations.
Don't expect a lot of smut either, it obviously focuses on the comedy and fluff.
You may like it if you've enjoyed reading works from authors such as Takanaga Hinako and Chifumi Ochi.

I found the characters not only funny but also touching and sweet. Somehow, watching them go through misunderstandings and romantic moments, it's easy to notice how special their bond is, keeping them together against the odds/obstacles.
Highly recommended.

For an old anime, the quality is not too bad and the characters are portrayed in a realistic way. Their age shows through their drifting manners and struggles, the setting reflects the morals and restrictions of the times. Overall I found it beautiful and poetic.
If there was one BL anime to watch, I'd recommend this one. Even a non-BL-initiated audience might find satisfaction in it.

An unusual take on the first World Wars, it's actually quite an original concept. Each episode doesn't last long, yet the characters are hilarious and definitely bonkers, if you ask me. Some people may feel offended by the somewhat irreverent portraits of certain countries (especially through characters like Hetalia) but bear in mind that this is definitely not something to take seriously, just a delightful succession of weird/funny moments with History as its frame.

Despite some funny moments, the plot is quite dark and the beginning of the first episode (if not the characters design) might put you off, but the psychology of the protagonists and the way they evolve make it appealing enough.
Then again, the ending left one or two questions unanswered.
It may look like shota, but that's mainly because of the graphic disproportions.
