I avoided it for a long time. When I got to it it swallowed me whole.
It does not need "action". The physical acts are tastefully, nimbly — and adorably — omitted. It is a love story and a damn good one.
I am a person who prefers the harder yaoi, and I see the reason now: if there were more stuff like Gravitation, I would not. If it can make a stone face like me *cry* at the end of an episode (Shuichi you stupid, stupid young thing!), it must be damned brilliant.

Now, while I've seen a lot of bad porn, this will stay in my mind for a long time.
The main problem of Enzai is that it tries to hit too many flies at a time: the story is (supposed to be) located in historical France, the film tries to sport an actual plot, it tries to have drama... And all these flop.
I am not even beginning to rant about anachronisms and clown-like background characters. They contribute to the serious over-all lack of credibility, but the biggest flop regarding credibility comes from the prison theme. Because the prison is not a prison. What is the point with prisoners having little tea parties in each other's cells, having access to advanced medical equipment and holding rather large items in secret from the guards?
To squeeze this story with numerous plot twists and characters into only two short episodes is a desperate effort. It simply does not work.
But to put more trivial things aside, I'll shortly discuss the most important: the sex. Sadly, it does not work either. Repetitious and clumsy, the sex scenes just... don't work. The highly corny wanna-be hard rock in the background of the more 'clashing' scenes makes me as a viewer only squirm with embarrassment.
