Dark & Angsty - the way I like it!

if you're looking for fluff, turn around and go back, because this story aint! Beautifully told, with a lot of angst, darkness and depression.

2 high school find that they both endured insurmountable pains in their childhood and somehow find one another and fall in love. The story is painful and times and touching. The ending is so beautiful, but even then you realize that these two have a long way to go to ever be truly happy. There are some things that can't ever be erased, but you feel they'll get by with what ever happiness they bring to one another.

It's sad and will make you tear up. The story is well paced, telling enough of each boys painful backstory without it making it long winded.

In the end you're you realize that the only one that could make them happy is each other, because these two have endured similiar types of pain. What make this story stand out for me is how each boy deals with the pain. One enjoys it, while the other can't seem to get from away it. Sakaguchi who has endured so much from a mother that never loves him is gentle to Chiaki, who needs pain. It's kind of fitting who these two belong to one another.

Great story and great read. One of my top favorite mangas right now!

Slow moving at first, but wonderfully good!

The first episode actually bored me. The art was different then what I'm used to as they use 3d sets for some of the scenes. It was slow moving at first and wasn't sure if this was a comedy, a drama, romance or what.

But then the characters of Eiji and Chikage are introduced and the story picked up pace as well as humor, a bit of romance, and a decades long mystery all wrapped in one.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this story, as its touching and beautiful. The characters all have a lot of depth into their backstory and a lot of heart. I teared up in a few scenes, especially when it comes to Eiji.

The series does lack romance, but it more then makes up for it with the plot. The end surprised me, but it was as it should have been. The last line lingered on for me as the scene faded with the words "Forget". It was just so beautifully told and I'm saddened that it ended.

Really good! Not the typical Sensei x Student stor

This story was great. Totally took me by suprise because I read this one based on the cover not reading the descrition. The minute I did, I was afraid it would be the typical student lures sensei into a relationship based on just sex. This is not one of those stories!

It's funny and cute and a lot of build up to get to the nice ending. The art is awesome and the boys are so cute and drawn realistically. Highly recommend this one!

Beautiful and Moving

This was absolutely gorgeous. Everything about it, the writing and the art was perfect. This one made me cry, because it was so emotional, espicially at the end.

I don't want to spoil too much of this story, because I HIGHLY recommend everyone to read it. My only disappointment was that it was too short. But you get over it quickly, because the story wraps up in the end nicely.

This storyline is not over the top or explicit. It's just artistic and absolutely beautiful storytelling.

Vert beautiful & sweet

I concur to the other reviewers of this story. Truly a beautiful, well written and drawn storyline about young/first love. The main characters complement each other so well, you fall in love with them so much as you read this beautiful tale. This is a long one, and worth reading every page. You will get emotional as the storyline delves into some dark and painful flashbacks, but works out so beautifully as you know these two find happiness in the future with each other. I really loved this one and highly recommend it!

Not very good...

The art was pretty, and that's all that's good about this super short, extremely quick 1 shot. The storyline was very thin. It was a bit confusing when the vampire came into the story, and then the main character is such a prick, I was hoping the vampire would kill him, then I'd give the characters and plot a better rating.

Again, the art was really good. The characters were very pretty and very detailed. If anything, it's a nice short read for the art. :)

Another must read from this mangaka

I've read just about everything written by Yoneda Kou, and have yet to be disappointed with her art and storytelling. Her characters seem real, and not cartoony at all. And the issues she deals with are dark and depressing, but she adds a bit of humour that you find yourself laughing while you cry. ;)

I recommend actually reading the sequel to this first, "Don't Stay Gold" before you read this one. The two stories are SOOOOOO different, even though there are 2 characters that are the same. This one is really dark, dealing with issues of rape, depression and sexual addiction, but not extremely graphic or explicit. The issue of rape is only discussed, but never shown, thankfully!

It's about unrequited love and how a strange friendship lasts and endures. This one is quick read, but I recommed reading each one twice. First one out of order and the 2nd read in order. It sometimes gets hard to follow, because you don't know what character said what, which is why 2 reads is recommended.

Angsty and Beautiful. I love this one!!!

This has only be scanlated to Vol 2, and I've never been obsessed with a manga as much as I have with this one. The story is very angst filled, and sad. The main character Kurata meets his first HS crush Tozaki years later when there lives cross during a work project. The have a hot one night stand that then leads Tozaki and Kurata through a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Tozaki is filled with anger and a bit unstable and unsure about Kurata throughout the story. An incident in his past makes him unwilling to trust Kurata. At times he's extremely forceful and rude and because of his past he causes Kurata a lot of emotional pain. Kurata is so in love with Tozaki, but is unsure of Tozaki's feelings towards him. Despite the clashes they have with one another, Kurata still falls deeply in love with hi. I gets to a point where the two have an intense scene where Kurata has had enough of Tozaki's forceful attitude and pushes him away. It leads to Tozaki realizing his mistakes and a romantic confession and steamy reunion that is just beautiful.

This story is not sweet or fluffy. Even though, I think Kurata is a big teddy bear. You want to hold him throughout and make his fears and doubts about Tozaki go away. Tozaki is not the greatest of guys, but he's not the worst either. You root for those two to get on the same page with one another, and when they do, it's extremely sweet and hotttttt!!!

It was licensed at the end of Vol2, unfortunately, and may have to wait awhile before Vol3 is translated by the licensed publisher. But the 2 volumes are great. I highly recommend this story. If you like angsty and emotional stories, you'll love this one!

I cried...

I gave this story a shot, because I really wanted to a long series. And what I got was a long, rollercoaster of emotions that ranged from happy to sad to very happy. This series introduces us to many characters who's storylines intertwines and connects with one another.

The story starts out with the first set of characters who surprisingly don't make much of an appearance in the rest of the story. The storyline of Izumi and Takimaya resembles the storyline in Junjou Romantica of Mizaki and Usagi-san. It's funny and cute, but the storyline gets pretty old, which is why I really liked that the mangaka instead veered off and made the rest of the series about the characters of Reiji and Naoya and their entire lifestory. Reiji and Naoya both have dark and depressing pasts, so dark I don't know how they dealt with it, but in the end the two find comfort in one another and make one heck of a great series.

The series switches back and forth a bit between Izumi/Takimaya and Reiji/Naoya while introducing us to one-shot storylines that are just as touching and sad. My favorite has to be the Tomoyaki/Seiichi storyline. It lasts about 2 chapters, but in the end I cried like a baby.

It was a really great story and HIGHLY recommend this one, if you want to sit down for a few days and get enraptured by the stories that are weaved in this one. The art isn't great, especially in the beginning, but as the storyline progresses, through the 60+ chapters the artwork improves and you forget all about the art and focus on the beautiful storyline. All in all A MUST READ!

Recommend

I really liked this manga. The characters were so well drawn and the plot was well written. Kei is so adorable. Having lost his mother, and being neglected by his father he should be a depressing mess, but he isn't. I really liked how the managaka portrayed the unrequited love he had for the sister's BF. It was very beleiveable how these two got together, and there was no over the top explicit sex scenes to get to them to the happy ending.

I highly recommend this story!
