A kid in 6th grade found a Go board with blood mark on it and later he learned that it was haunted by a ghost from Heian era named Fujiwara no Sai that can't rest peacefully because he has not yet attain the "Hand of God". On the first hand, Hikaru was not interested in this game but, because Sai always bugged him to play, slowly, he began to walk in the path of Go and found a worthy rival that mistook Sai's play as Hikaru's. His passion started when he decided to join a Go club on his school a year later. He then proven that he's worth of everyone's attention as he has a fearful talent that will grow rapidly as the time goes by.

Really this is BL?
Hikaru no Go has no overt BL (it was a Shonen Jump series so don't expect much), not in the generic sense. If anything the only BL up for interpretation is the relationship he holds with his rival Touya Akira (who I have always seen him being totally gay for). So if you're looking for something with hugs and kisses Hikaru No Go is way off the benchmark.
If you're looking for an entertainment, well plotted, well written story then Hikaru No Go is a must-watch anime.
