Reeled Me In

At first, I thought Chiga was gonna fall for the chibi kid in the beginning. That's when I thought "maybe this isn't worth watching". But when I realized he was going for the more mature looking Kokusai, I was completely reeled in. (I'm into the more mature looking characters, not as in old or BUFF but as in rigid/strong jaw-lined and lean characters, such as Ishihara Satoru's recent characters.^^)

The plot gets so suspenseful and leaves you gasping for more. XD Absolutely love it~! I always wait for new yaoi to come out. That's what always keeps me coming back for more.

Adorable and sexy

I didn't know anything about Seito when I watched the OVA, as I hadn't read the manga yet. What got me interested was that Chiga was voiced by Sugita Tomokazu. I'm glad I watched it, because really enjoyed both the ova's.

I must say, Seito doesn't get its high rating because of a good storyline per se. There isn't really one, not much of a plot. It's rather moments strung together between the very appealing leads. That's where Seito really shines. Chiga is intelligent, sexy, gruff and protective, Kokusai is naive, a bit wimpy but nice and has a reliable personality. Despite having clichéd lines to work with every now and then, their voice actors did a superb job, as did the two voicing the supporting characters Akutsu and Kondou. Excellent delivery and comic timing. Their dialogues and inner monologues swing back and forth between clichéd and original, but are always sweet and hilarious. Because you know what they're thinking and feeling, their interaction becomes that much more enjoyable. Lastly, Chiga and Kokusai are beautifully drawn. The animation is consistently high throughout the OVA'S - (deformed) expressions are golden at times.

The intimate scenes show that suggestion rather than showing everything is very hot as well. I was reminded of the style when I saw Koisuru Boukun.

Sweet but hard

I wan't really interested in this series but I saw it after my friend recommended it to me! After I watched it, I was really regretting that I didn't see it earlier. Kokusai and Chiga couple is so cute and adorable. My favorite scene from the first OVA is when Chiga starts to choose his clothes that he will be wearing tomorrow when he goes out with Kokusai. He seemed so cute when he realized he was choosing his clothes. And my favorite scene from the second one is when Chiga's friend comes over to Kokusai's house and talk with Chiga about the person whom he loves, which is Kokusai.
Since I really enjoyed this anime, I read the manga too and it was really great, too!
Seito Kaichou ni Chuukoku is a great yaoi that every yaoi fana will definitely love! If you haven't watched it, please try it! I'm sure that you will definitely love this OVA!

Seito Kaichou ni Chuukoku (OVA)

Also known as Hey! Class President. As of now it's only a 2-episode OVA, but since the story is clearly not finished, I'm not sure whether there'll be another episode coming out at some point (however, as of this writing, there's no news of any kind regarding that, even though all four volumes of the manga have been completed).

This anime doesn't appear to be particularly well-known as other yaoi titles are - or at least, Wikipedia doesn't yet have a page on it, and I'd never heard of it before stumbling upon it thanks to the glories of YouTube. The few small reviews I have read have been very mixed; some seem to worship it and are squealing their lungs out at the sex scenes, and others have criticised it as being boring and completely lacking in atmosphere. Personally, I'm somewhere in the middle camp. The thing is, when it comes to yaoi, I often tend to prefer a more normal setting. Even though I love fantasy and the supernatural, all the yaoi anime that I've enjoyed the most have been set in the real world, modern-day Japan. So I appreciated the fact that this title didn't go overboard as far as I was concerned: it concerns two high-school guys who've become friends though kendo club, and deals with all the regular life problems as a consequence. No doubt a lot of people find that a little dull, since it's been done many times before - hardly an original story. I personally didn't have any problems with it though, and even found it quite refreshing.

I won't go through what happens - if you're interested, you can easily look up a synopsis and/or give it a watch. I will say though, the sex scenes actually took me aback. Not because I found them disturbing or odd in any way, but just because I wasn't expecting them. The first 20-odd minutes is all fairly innocent - lots of blushing and stammering and general awkward hilarity on both parts of the main characters, the seme just as much as the uke. So I was thinking something like, "oh, this is gonna be like a slightly less tame version of Gravitation or something, so no real on-screen raunchiness here." Um, no. I was very wrong. The first sex scene doesn't feel out of place, because obviously that's what the whole OVA is leading up to, but I swear I was watching, took a second to blink, and then suddenly they were all over each other. All very tastefully, to be sure, because you know it has to be pretty when it comes to yaoi, else the fangirls wouldn't bite. But it's definitely not anything of Gravitation standards. More like Junjou Romantica manga-version stuff - certainly explicit, but not pornographically so.

Onto the other details. The animation is relatively good (after all, the anime is a 2009 release, and it shows), and the character designs are nice enough - nothing drool-worthy, but generally pretty without being over-the-top about it. The artwork as a whole is clean and fairly bright. I didn't notice the music, which I suppose means that it wasn't anything good enough to stand out, but also nothing cringe-worthy. One review I read said it sounded like elevator music... which is a bit harsh I think, but I get the point; the atmosphere for the most part isn't overly gripping.

In all honesty, my favourite part of this anime is the humour. It's kinda random, but in a good way. Some of the facial expressions, the lines each of the characters are saying in their heads, the way a couple of small scenes are timed... it made me laugh at loud more than the once, which I very rarely do when it comes to yaoi. If that means people can't take the plot seriously, well, that's okay too I think. It is a fictional story, after all, and I don't think it tries to be super-dramatic or heart-wrenchingly emotional, so I really enjoyed the humorous parts. I usually dislike it when any anime attempts to take itself extremely and unrealistically seriously, and I'm glad that this anime doesn't.

All in all, I'm giving this OVA 3 Stars out of 5. If there is a third episode release, then I might be tempted to add an extra star, since the only reason I can think of why I'm not right now is because the story is obviously incomplete. I haven't read the manga, so I've no idea how well things pan out or if the story conclusion is a satisfying one. However, overall, I would definitely recommend this anime to anyone looking for their yaoi fix. If nothing else, it'll give you a giggle (and even if it doesn't do that, it'll be less than an hour out of your life).

Simply Sweet

Something this cute hasn't graced the screen in a while. Any yaoi girl would LOVE this anime. Seitokaichou ni Chuukoku centers around Chiga and Kokusai-san, who have been pushed together by Kokusai-san's uncanny ability to get molested! Chiga, being an attractive person, has never really looked at anyone with any kind of interest and cannot seem to understand his growing affections for Kokusai-san, who is ordinary in every possible way. In these two ovas Chiga protects Kokusai-san from looming dangers and in the end shows him some affection as well! This anime is PERFECT for every yaoi fan. Seitokaichou ni Chuukokou mixes school life and romance together in an amazing blend that equals sweet entertainment. The only drawback is that the anime as too short!
