Cute, but...

When you think of a vampire story, usually what comes to mind is some dramatic tale with romantic characters and references to a grader time and place. Blood Honey isn’t exactly one of those stories.

It's a very cute, upbeat story of a vampire and his passionate donor. It has standard twists and turns in the story, so it’s not revolutionary in that respect but it is a refreshing step back from the normal sort of vampire story.

Within this volume, there is a side story, relating to the main story, and an unrelated story as well. The side story focuses on what happens to a secondary character as a result of the main couple, while the unrelated oneshot is about high school kids becoming very close unexpectedly.

I was a little disappointed that the entire volume was not focused on the advertised plot line. The side story is cute, and I enjoyed it a lot. It’s actually the most graphic story in the volume. While I enjoyed the unrelated oneshot, I would have preferred that the whole volume stuck with the main story line. There was a lot of character development left unexplored.

Overall it's a quick enjoyable read, but it also leaves the reader wanting.
