This series is a spin off of Tsumasaki ni Kiss following Kyouya.

Kyouya has left hosting to go to university and work at a regular job. That is when he meets an assistant professor, Kiriya, whose "cold eyes" have drawn him in.
Kyouya's problems begin with his restaurant boss who he has an emotional attachment to that he doesn't know how to deal with. He turns to Kiriya, who in turn has his own past to get over.
Will Kyouya and Kiriya be able to overcome their pasts and find a future together?
[co-characters are some cute little kittens Milk & Bitter, plus appearances by a cute puppy Tomezou]
~by mica363

After his relationship with Homura ended, Kyouya left his job as a host to go to college. Kyouya, who still cares for Homura, is attracted to his boss at his part-time job because he reminds him of his lost love. However, the person he thinks of most isn’t Homura or his boss. It’s Kiriya, a professor Kyouya met by chance when he was looking for a home for two abandoned kittens. Almost against his will, Kyouya feels drawn to the cold and arrogant Kiriya. Is Kyouya fated to always know only unrequited love?

Better than I expected

I put off reading Gravity Eyes for quite some time, and when I finally got around to reading it, I was sad that I hadn't read it earlier. Tsumasaki ni Kiss, the pequel to Gravity Eyes is a bit of a dark horse favourite of mine -- one of those BL series that isn't particularly remarkable, but I've heartily enjoyed nonetheless. When I first read Tsumasaki ni Kiss, the only real low point in it for me was Homura's relationship with Kyouya.

I really didn't like Kyouya all that much. And so, I delayed reading Gravity Eyes for quite some time. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to see that with a little more development, he became the kind of character that I could be interested in. There is a complexity to Kyouya that I just couldn't see in Tsumasaki ni Kiss because I was rooting for Touji and Homura's relationship to work out the way I wanted it to.

I actually found the romance plot in Gravity Eyes to be fairly moving -- something that doesn't happen to me particularly often, and I enjoyed the story and characters. I thought the kittens Milk and Bitter added a great deal of cute without making the story overwhemlingy saccharine. Overall I would recommend this manga to pretty well anyone, but it definitely isn't for those who only enjoy Hard yaoi.

Gravity Eyes is one for the shounen-ai/soft yaoi fans. If you like tender, romantic tales with a side of comedy and a dab of angst then this series won't disappoint.

The plot is simple and easy to follow, but nothing feels overly memorable. The relationship development is slow and delicate, with very little 'action'. However, if you're just looking for a feel-good BL manga that leaves you smiling then this one is worth the look.

Kyouya initially comes across as a naive and slightly hot-headed university student, but as the story unfolds we are offered glimpses into his past. He is actually quite a strong, optimistic character who simply falls in love too easily and acts without forethought - a character that we can relate to. Kiriya is a quiet, withdrawn university professor who has been battling internal demons for many years (-_-) but he finds himself opening up to Kyouya more and more. Kiriya always makes sure that Kyouya is comfortable and happy - there is no forced... anything. The two kittens that Kiriya and Kyouya look after are adorable and trigger both comic and rather sweet moments between the two men.

The character designs are consistent and mostly clean. As a hard yaoi fan, the 'action' scenes left much to be desired. The uke (Kyouya) is around the same height as the seme (Kiriya) and looks more masculine than many other ukes, something that I found refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable. Kiriya is dark haired and his eyes are deep-set (*sigh*). Despite his looks being somewhat unoriginal, he successfully gives out the impression that he's quite emotionally tender.

Overall, Gravity Eyes is a sweet little shounen-ai/soft yaoi that is worth a second reading.
