"Masters" own "steeds" to fight it out in a secret club, where the loser is "punished".

~NoDeadline

Sawamura Yuki and Katsuragi Tetsuya first met when they were still children. Yuki is the heir to the Sawamura dojo where his family is famous for judo. Soon after Yuki and Tetsuya met, they became good friends and progressed to lovers. Realizing that it’s impossible for two boys to get married, they even made their own wedding testimony. One day though when Yuki and Katsuragi were walking and Tetsuya asthma (or some kind of breathing problems) aggravated, Yuki left him with the words “I would not want to die with you” and then ran away. Tetsuya never saw Yuki since that snowy day, until 12 years later when he became a rich and successful businessman as well as the member of the secret “Kishidou Club” (meaning Knighthood Club). Basically, the purpose of this club is for men to fight each other. Contestants can use whatever type of fighting skills they pocess Each contestant has an owner and if he loses the match, he’ll have to be punished. The penalty is being publicly molested by other men in the ring. Young and handsome, many (including Tsukasa) would like to be Testuya’s “pony” but he doesn’t take on anyone.

The tension...oh the tension...

"Money...as long as you have money, you can have anything, including a healthy body."

Menial pay and a sick father, what's a loving son to do? This is the dutiful Yuuki's current predicament. Enter Tatsuya, wildly successful company president who was Yuuki's best friend from childhood.

Emphasis on the "was." Along the way we're given little glimpses into the past, just a morsel here or there, but the implication is clear: Yuuki betrayed Tatsuya in some manner, and damned if Tatsuya is going to let him forget it. In order to pay for an organ transplant for his father, Yuuki resigns himself to serving as Tatsuya's gambling chip in the underground fighting world of the Kishidou Club where high risks come with high rewards.

Bitter rivals employing underhanded methods enter the scene, but I enjoyed the ambiguous moral intentions of the "villains" in this manga. Nishimura-sensei is a master at conveying the conflicting emotions that each character faces. Even through his hatred for Yuuki, Tatsuya's concern for his friend is obvious as Yuuki's secret is revealed as well. There are twists and turns in this story, but it never feels too contrived.

The ending seemed to wrap up a bit quickly, and far too neatly. I wish we could have learned a bit more about Tatsuya's reaction after the big ta-da is revealed, as well as what happens to Yuuki and Tatsuya further down the road.

As always, Nishimura-sensei's artwork is clean and the sex scenes are highly emotional. Overall, highly recommended.

Very nice, touching and at times, heart wrenching story of a pair of childhood lovers :)

The story builds up slowly, giving the reader ample time and room to know the characters in-depth. The narrative is also tightly packed and integrated with flashbacks into the main leads' childhood story. Eventually, the plot unveils itself bit by bit - what a delectable tease - before culminating into a heartwarming and nice finish. At this point, however I am a little disappointed. Given how the main characters started on a brutal and bitter beginning, I was expecting something more melodramatic at the end *cough*. While not exactly pinning for a bloody (did somebody say smut?) and tragic ending, it would be good if the manga up its scale on the heartwrenching factor and let forth the tears~ A hard realist would be scoffing at how the plot turns out to be (but I think anyone here is really a romantic, heh) - the storyline does get a little stretched - nonetheless, the story is still convincing and very likable. If anything else, the art and characters i.e. bishes are top notch!

Highly recommended! Now I am off to check out more Nishimura sensei's works~

I loved this story! The character were sweet and the anime was done nicely. The plot developed nicely with a few twists and turns and the end left you very satisfied. I think this is my favorite manga of all time!
