I've read a lot about Kizuna being a classic in the genre so I went and bought it...

To tell you the truth this serie isn't in my "I can't get enough of it" list, but its a good 4 volumes read. Yes, you heard me. To really judge this serie you might end up buying for of them. Let's see how I can prove it to you :

I liked :
- the art, because I personnally prefer when the boys and men look and act like boys and men. Sometimes it can get confusing though between Kai and Ran who have a similar hairstyle. Kodaka-sensei gets a better hang at it later but at the beginning its a challenge.
- the story. Not so much for the plot although its part of my enjoyment but the way it is so realistic and yet sweet and painful. I have to say : it's one of the rare manga that can get painfully realistic in the plot (like, yes it happened and no, he wasn't rescued at the nick of the time to prevent that...). I'm kinda glad the mangaka's story telling doesn't dramatize too much.

I wasn't impressed :
- the attraction between the Kei and Ran. Its real and its touching but it's flat. It's as if we need huge yakuza drama to actually see the love between the two. Although this is one point, its a huge point considering it's the main couple of the serie. You'll have to wait for later volumes to see other seemingly more interesting couples.

BTW , although I like Ran and Kei together...my fav couple is Jack and Roy in volume 6...

Easily one of the best yaoi out there. Even the OVAs (which follow the manga almost in perfect sync) are an attractive buy. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Kei's character development, from his tendency to act out as a child with his lover, Ranmaru, to his maturity to love and care for him as an equal partner. I can't wait for each and every volume to come out!
