Loveless - mystery, suspense & love

I believe Loveless is a really wonderful story and is something good for everyone to read. It has a nice plot, which is all full of mystery, suspense, love, care and many other feelings that I can’t really describe for I can’t remember them all. You can understand what it is all about for the most part and want more.

That art of the book is wonderful, it’s clear and you can definitely make out all of the characters very well. I like the design of the characters and how they all look. But I wish that there was a bit more blacking in for parts of the characters and even background. Though I think it still looks very good overall so that’s why I gave it 4.

Now for the characters I think some of them can be related to. Each one has their own personality that some us can compare too ourselves or to someone that we know. They are all funny and unique and their own way. Overall the characters are just fun and that’s why I gave it a 5.

As for the plot I think it’s good. It’s kind of a family thing and we all love family. The plot is gives a sense of want for Semei’s death like Ritsuka is. Yet the plot lets us feel pain and sadness and overall feeling for a character or characters. But sometimes I wish the plot hade something more. I don’t know what but just a little bit something to spice it up.

This is a great great manga indeed, I really liked how kouga-sensei drew everything, there was love, magic, hate and a touch of intelligence. Really, if you do not put your mind into this manga while reading, you would never be able to understand. As I said, with a touch of Kouga-sensei's intelligence, she brought those impossible stuff to life, making me so addicted to it. So far, this probably is the best manga i have ever read.

I gave the art 5 marks because it was quite realistic and I know that its hard to draw mangas as you have to draw many same faces. After all, the art is the one which attracted when I saw how Soubi had that unparelled beauty, he was so beautiful, I just coulnt take my eyes off him...

I also rated the characters 5 marks because of how Kouga-sensei was able to bring out 'that feeling' of how Ritsuka was loved by Soubi. Oh ya, not to forget about the 5 beautiful boys she portrayed - Seimei, Soubi, Loveless, Ritsu-sensei and Yayoi.

About the plot, there is a major reason as to why I gave it a 3. You may think 'Huh? You rated a 5 for the art and chracter, but a 3 for the plot? What are you thinking about?' But, there is a fatal flaw, which is somewhere around or near the ending, personally, I really do not want to spoil everything, so after you have read, you should be ale to know.

"Loveless" is more than what the plot tell us about.. In this manga many of necessary questions of life are discussed and experienced that nearly everybody is about to ask at least once in his life.

What is love? Why can we love someone and how can we beloved? What is the reason for living?

Eventhough this manga can not give an answer to these questions it is really interesting to see how the main characters change their minds and behaviours because of personal development. At the beginning you see a really confused and sad Ritsuka who has lost his reason of live. His brother died and he feels alone and overstrainged with the fact someone has killed him.

One day he meets Soubi, who will become an important person in many cases. Together with Soubi Ritsuka begins to search for answers. Priority one questions is: How killed Seimei, his brother. But in the story there is more than only this questions as I explained above. So Ritsuka and Soubi have to make their way beyond love, disappointment, suffer, pain, fear and distress.

Eventhough the plot is exigent, it contains also many of really funny situations.

Loveless is a good mixture of sad and comical aspects and reflexts the characters motives in a clearly understandable way.

While the anime is omiting some necessary aspects of the story making it more difficult to understand, the manga nearly answers all questions. I would recommend reading it, because only after reading it, I was able to find the conclusion.

By the way: In the german version of the manga, Ritsuka and Soubi are two years older than explained in the aarinfantasy description. I think this is because of the current law (because you are not permitted to have a sexual relationsship under 14 years)!)

Sorry for my worse english. ( I am a german and therefore it is not my mother tongue. :-) )

Hope you enjoy it as well!

An absolutely amazing manga. I was so entranced. I can't look at a blue butterfly now without being completely overwhelmed with emotion. The only downside is that it has THE worst ending of all time. The last chapter is called "Endless". You do the math. Fortunately I found an amazing fanfic by a girl who felt the same way I did both about this bewitching manga and the crappy end. You can find it here:

http://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/view_st.php/139765

Now, normally I hate fanfics. Books, movies, bands, etc. should be left as is without us trying to improve upon them...but in this case I'll make an exception both because it's absolutely necessary to my sanity to see more of this story, and because this is one fanfic that really is very well written. The author does an excellent job of retaining the original feel of the story. While reading this story I am struck by the thought that if the original author of Loveless had written a sequel, this is exactly what she (he?) would have done. Check it out Loveless lovers!

Oops! Almost forgot to rate! I give this manga 5 beautiful and bewitching blue butterflies in the art section. 5 melancholy misanthropic males in the characters section. And 4 confusing and cheerless conclusions in the plot section.

Happy reading!

After Yun Kouga had created her epic series "Earthian" she comes back with a even more dazzling series. "Loveless" is a must read for all who are into fantasy and like the hint of shota that falls into this story. The art is, like always, amazing and the plot's twist will keep you guess on what will happen in the future! After reading the first volume, you will find yourself guessing and seeking for the next answer. The supernatural/fantasy action will make you wonder on how this could continue. Leap for it, cause the series isn't going to be out forever.
