Karasu is an angel of the class Powers; Shirasagi is a demon, a Marquis. One day Karasu is assigned to convince Shirasagi to return to Hell. However, Shirasagi doesn't act like a demon at all -- not only is he a priest, but he's forsworn the use of his demonic powers, and wishes nothing more than to live his life as a human. But the Archduke of Hell also has his eyes set on Shirasagi, and Karasu's own deviant behavior soon throws him out of God's favor. Will the pair be able to overcome the restrictions and laws of being an angel and a demon and live their lives freely?
~from SiH

From BLUIn a dystopian near future, the end of the world is nigh, and a lone devil has a single wish. Secretly living as a human priest, Shirasagi prays for the day when he can offer up all the good deeds he’s done in his life on the scale of Judgment and once again become one of God’s chosen. However, his visa to be on Earth is close to expiring, and so Heaven has sent a parole officer, Karasu, to keep an eye on him. But when angels and demons both come calling at the door, Karasu is forced to recognize that his feelings towards the beautiful Shirasagi aren’t quite as professional as he might like.

Volume 1 Summary: Part of the angelic bureaucracy, Karasu is sent to earth to retrieve a demon living among humans. However, he's surprised to discover that Shirasagi only wants to throw away his heritage and his powers, and live as a human, and a holy human at that. A priest working out of a bar in the city, Shirasagi teaches children and is generally an all-around wonderful person. But Heaven and Hell both want him back and it's going to be quite a battle.

Volume 2 Summary: Karasu may have retrieved Shirasagi from the clutches of Beelzebub once, but Hell isn't quite ready to relinquish up its claim. However, the appearance of Koumori and Sarugami, an new ally and an old friend, may force our pair to not only acknowledge their debt to each other, but their true feelings as well.

Volume 3 Summary: Koumori leads Karasu and Shirasagi through the wastes of Purgatory, while high above, the Seraphim argue over how best to prevent the Distortion from spreading any further. When the war between Heaven and Hell begins once again, Dominions and Karasu restart their own fight, but soon the Archduke gets involved, and what happens in the end will take everyone by surprise!

One to remember!

sometimes it's hard to remember the story and plot of a certain Manga that you have read long time ago but this is among those you won't easily forget. Personnaly, I will never forget!
This is the most touching Manga I have ever read, It made me cry for a whole hour before becoming a life time favorite of mine.
This story isn't about only beautiful art or simply BL relationships. While having these elements, this is a beautiful story of hope, love and faith.
This is the story of a Demon who loves the god, the story of an angel that doubts his god and the story of the people who sacrifice everything in order to find real love.

We learn to look for truth, question the rules and leave rooms for possibilities, that we have to find our own way and break through obstacels with hope and love.

This is a story worth reading againa nd again, this is a manga that you actually learn something from, cry with the characters and rejoice as they reach their happy ending.
Simply beautiful!

Start with the classic angelxdevil pairing, add in a generous dollop of Christian iconography, a tech-concrete-jungle-mixed-with-Gothic setting, some hard-boiled stylistic quirks and a diefied totalitarian system and Innocent Bird is born.
Quite a heavy read for a Yaoi, the plot focuses more on conflict and drama than lovey-dovey antics, but is well worth trudging through to the ending. As to characters, Shiragasa (the devil uke) is beautiful and radiant whilst Karasu (angelic seme) is more in the mode of the film noir detective, quite a departure from the classic 'angelic' look. Look out also for the other bishies, each with their own compelling past.
Overall, a rewarding read for anyone looking for something slightly more engaging and serious.
