Yoneda Kou definitely never disappoint me, this manga is the most unique and different from any other BL that I've ever read before. I can feel how natural this story goes and It's not a 'fairytale lovey-dovey' like majority of stereotyped BL do. I can't describe how much i love it and how many times I've re-read this.
1. Character development.
Yashiro is a very complex character, he's not a character that you can understand deeply just by the first or second read. It's because he's an abnormal(masochist-sadist) to begin with, that's why mindset is different from any normal people. That's one of the most interesting thing in this manga.
also, I find it interesting the way she create a monologue in Yashiro's point of view, it successfully creates a very deep emotion. I recommend you to read it several times and try to blend Yashiro's & your emotion together (as you were in his position) so you can feel how complicated & twisted his feeling is.
2. Emotion.
One of the strongest qualities in this story. Even-though the drawing style is simple, but there's so many emotion you can get from it. And some pages without dialog (just a motion of pictures) can create more 'words' than the one with dialog.... amazing eh~!?
3. Small details to build up the story.
Read it slowly, carefully and you'll notice several beautiful details from it. I can tell this story was well-written and carefully drawn.
For example, character personality. We know that Yashiro is a 'poker face' (unable to express his feeling through his facial expression/ wearing 'mask') and it's shown by how awkward his action (weird act, fake-smile look, laughing out-of-place,etc.) due to his inability to express his true feeling. And it's awesome how the writer made his 'mask' broke little by little until it suddenly smashed into pieces and I cried like a baby..heck yeah.

I've read just about everything written by Yoneda Kou, and have yet to be disappointed with her art and storytelling. Her characters seem real, and not cartoony at all. And the issues she deals with are dark and depressing, but she adds a bit of humour that you find yourself laughing while you cry. ;)
I recommend actually reading the sequel to this first, "Don't Stay Gold" before you read this one. The two stories are SOOOOOO different, even though there are 2 characters that are the same. This one is really dark, dealing with issues of rape, depression and sexual addiction, but not extremely graphic or explicit. The issue of rape is only discussed, but never shown, thankfully!
It's about unrequited love and how a strange friendship lasts and endures. This one is quick read, but I recommed reading each one twice. First one out of order and the 2nd read in order. It sometimes gets hard to follow, because you don't know what character said what, which is why 2 reads is recommended.
