Once upon a time, there was an Angel named "Sakuya" who has fallen in love with a human boy named "Shirou". Shirou had some bad health condition and was soon to be parted from this world. The only thing Sakuya ever wanted was to be next to Shirou... So Sakuya went down to Earth and stayed right besides Shirou... Sakuya lied to Shirou and said "I lost my Angel's Ring (Halo) so I came to search for it".
Not only the Angel stayed close by Shirou... but he even took Shirou's pain... while causing damage to himself... to the verge of causing him to lose his wings and vanish to dust...
